Kory Kitagawa, MD, FAAD

Dr. Kory Kitagawa is a licensed and board-certified dermatologist, with experience in both medical and cosmetic dermatology. He also practices pediatric dermatology. His medical specialties include diagnosis and treatment of a broad spectrum of dermatologic conditions, including all types of skin cancer and pre-cancerous lesions. He is able to perform outpatient skin surgeries including cryotherapy (liquid nitrogen), biopsies, excision of skin cancers, electrodesiccation and curettage, electrocautery, allergy patch testing, and more.

Education

Dr. Kitagawa was born and raised in Hawaii and received his undergraduate degree in Biology and Ethnic Studies from the University of Hawaii at Manoa. He then completed his medical training at the John A. Burns School of Medicine at the University of Hawaii and finished his internship at the University of Hawaii Transitional Residency Program. He then moved to Buffalo, NY, where he completed his dermatology training at the SUNY Buffalo Dermatology Residency Program. He served as Chief Resident from 2009-2010 and was also awarded the Resident of the Year for the Medical Society of the County of Erie.

Fellowships and Honors

Dr. Kitagawa is a fellow of the American Academy of Dermatology. He is also a member of the Hawaii Dermatological Society, along with the prestigious Phi Beta Kappa (Alpha of Hawaii Chapter), and Alpha Omega Alpha Honor Medical Society. In addition, he is a Key Opinion Leader for Candela and his practice is a Candela Center of Excellence. Dr. Kitagawa has also been a Castle Connolly Top Doctor recipient since 2018, winning the coveted award 6 years in a row. In addition, Honolulu Magazine has named Dr. Kitagawa a Top Doctor in dermatology for 5 consecutive years. Modern Luxury Hawaii Magazine also highlighted Dr. Kitagawa’s expertise in 2022 and 2023.

Experience

Along with his intensive dermatologic and medical training, Dr. Kitagawa also serves as an active dermatology inpatient consultant at Kuakini Medical Center. He has had his own practice, Kitagawa Dermatology, since 2010, where he is proud to serve members of the local Honolulu community.

Cosmetic Dermatology

Dr. Kitagawa not only performs medical dermatology but is also one of the most prominent cosmetic dermatologists in Honolulu.
